Welcome to my beginner guitar course! I’m Steve Stine from Guitar Zoom and I’m so glad you joined me. In this video, we’re going to be looking at four must-know minor guitar chords. We’ve already gone through five major chords and learned how to read chord charts and practice them, so now it’s time to look at some minor chords.

It’s important to remember that you don’t have to learn all four minor chords before moving on to the next video. You can just pick one or two that serve your purposes for a song that you’re trying to learn. It’s also okay to use different fingers for certain chords if it works better for you.

So what are the four must-know minor chords? Well, the first one is A minor, written as Am. To play this chord, put your third finger on the third fret of the A string, your second finger on the second fret of the D string, and your first finger on the first fret of the G string.

The second one is E minor, written as Em. For this chord, put your third finger on the second fret of the G string, your second finger on the second fret of the B string, and your first finger on the first fret of the high E string.

Next up is D minor, written as Dm. To play this chord, use your second finger on the third fret of the A string, your first finger on the second fret of the D string, and your third finger on the third fret of the G string.

The last one is G minor, written as Gm. For this chord, put your second finger on the third fret of the low E string, your third finger on the third fret of the A string, and your first finger on the second fret of the D string.
